SELECT EXTERMINATING’s
Pest Protection Programs for Homes

Really, every pest solution has two parts:

  1. Finding and eliminating any pests you already have (including pests that have already dropped in and made their presence known).
  2. Preventing any future pest problems through SELECT EXTERMINATING PPP,  Pest Protection Programs for Homes.

Getting Started

Every SELECT EXTERMINATING Pest Protection Program starts with a thorough inspection of your home, inside and out.  We’ll find the critters that don’t belong and eliminate them along with their access routes and internal breeding grounds.

After that initial inspection, you have your choice of one of three comprehensive programs of pest control:

Quarterly Gold is SELECT EXTERMINATING’s extra service Pest Protection Program covering treatment for food infesting insects, spiders, silverfish, roaches, earwigs, crickets, mites, ground beetles, bees, wasps, ants, millipedes and centipedes and rodents.  This program covers any special visits necessary for the pests listed above as well as four scheduled seasonal visits for treatment and prevention.

Spring time is pest time as pests wake up from winter slow-downs and hibernation.  We apply an exterior barrier of protection to block out ants, beetles, spiders and other outdoor based pests.

Summer time warm weather means active time for pests.  Summertime inspections and treatments for pests like ticks and ants help to keep your home comfortable and safe for you.

Fall is time for warm weather insects and rodents to seek warmth and shelter for the winter.  Every home can be a target so we carefully inspect and treat your home’s exterior sealing up cracks and crevices around foundations, windows and eaves.

Winter time indoors feels like summer time outdoors to pests.  The ones already in your home continue to grow and multiply.  Additional sealing and baiting for rodents is done.  We’re there for you to find and eliminate growing families of pests, every season of the year.

Quarterly Platinum is SELECT EXTERMINATING’s Pest Protection Program covering everything in the Quarterly Gold program
        PLUS birds and honey bees.

 Quarterly Diamond does it all.

SPE - Bed Bug

SELECT
EXTERMINATING's
Bed Bug Program

Bed bugs are fast multiplying insects which can arrive in your home as insects or as eggs ready to hatch.  They can be deposited and carried in clothing in your suitcase once you have stayed in a hotel or motel.  They can also exist in or around your home in bat nests or bird nests.  When the bats or birds migrate or leave your home for some other reason, the bed bugs hunt for a new food source and that usually ends up being a member of the human family living in the home.  Adult females lay eggs in cracks, crevices and other well protected sites and the eggs are deposited with a coating of a glue-like substance that defeats vacuum cleaners in many cases.

Adult bugs are about the size of a tick and are often mistaken for a tick or a small cockroach. They are prolific and multiply rapidly. Once an infestation occurs, it usually takes a professional to thoroughly rid your home of them. Bed bug infestations are one of the most difficult infestations to eliminate because of the need to find and to destroy all of the eggs as well as any living bed bugs.  Most people that try to eliminate bed bugs by themselves usually end up calling a professional eventually anyway and, by that time, the infestation has become more widespread and is more difficult to eliminate. Meanwhile, the biting continues.

SELECT EXTERMINATING pest control technicians are specially trained to identify and rid your home of bed bugs.  They know how to find, extract and eliminate all bed bugs and bed bug eggs.  Show us your problem and we’ll provide a solution for you. .

 SPP-TAB

sentriconWhen the Sentricon® Termite Colony Elimination System was introduced in 1995, it revolutionized termite protection.  Rather than   saturating  the soil with liquid chemical solution, it uses Recruit™ termite bait strategically, while cleverly manipulating termite biology and behavior to destroy the termite colony.  The bottom line is this. We want to kill termites as much as you do. But we want to protect the environment as much as you do, too. The Sentricon System has proven its ability to do both.
SELECT EXTERMINATING is an Authorized Operator for the Sentricon Colony Elimination System.  Only pest control companies with the highest quality standards are selected to be Authorized Operators for Sentricon.  Ask us if the Sentricon Colony Elimination System makes sense for you.

SELECT EXTERMINATING's TAB Program

A whole other set of pests -
       A completely separate plan

Each year, subterranean termites attack thousands of homes. The termite colony or "nest" is most commonly located in the ground. From there, they forage for food and will often attack the wood in homes as a food source and can cause significant structural damage. The purpose of termite control is to prevent termites from feeding on a structure. Because of the specialized equipment needed to perform a termite treatment, a licensed pest control operator is needed to perform these procedures. In addition to the conventional termite treatment (liquid), termite baits can also be used for termite control. Unlike conventional soil applied insecticides, baits/monitoring systems can be used in situations where conventional termiticide applications are considered too difficult or unacceptable by the homeowner.

For protection from Termites, Carpenter Ants and Carpenter Bees, an inspection by a qualified SELECT EXTERMINATING pest control technician is the first and most important step. An inspection for wood-destroying insects and their evidence is the careful visual examination of all accessible areas of a building and the sounding of accessible structural members adjacent to slab areas in contact with masonry walls and other areas particularly susceptible to attack by wood-destroying insects. Evidence includes both present and past activity of wood-destroying insects visible in, on or under a structure, or in or on debris under the structure. Permanently attached decks, porches, storage sheds, etc. are included in these inspections. Detached structures (such as garages) are not routinely inspected unless specifically requested by the client.

The purpose of the inspection is to determine if termites, carpenter ants or carpenter bees have infested the structure and to develop a specific treatment plan based on the type of construction.

SELECT EXTERMINATING technicians are trained to:

  • Locate individual water sources.
  • Visually inspect all accessible areas of the structure, both inside and outside.
  • Probe and/or sound accessible wooden areas of the structure that are prone to termite attack.
Identify inaccessible or obstructed areas and make recommendations for gaining access to those areas not currently available for treatment.
  • Identify and note any visible evidence of termite infestation and recommend how to correct the conditions.
  • Note conditions that are conducive to termite infestations and recommend how to eliminate or to correct the conditions.
  • Look for visible signs of subterranean termite infestation. The technician cannot inspect behind walls and paneling, into wall voids, under floor coverings, beyond ceiling panels, or through other cosmetic coverings that may be part of your home.

It is possible that insect activity and /or damage may be present and remain undetected even after a thorough inspection.

Treatment Proposal
Based on the findings from the inspection, the proposal may include several treatment options. These options may include a soil treatment, termite baits, physical barriers, mechanical alteration, foundation and wood treating. The most common method of treatment for subterranean termites is called a conventional treatment (liquid treatment). The goal is to create a continuous pesticide barrier in the soil. This procedure is designed to kill termites on contact and /or repel the foraging termites away from the structure.
As stated earlier, baits can be used as an alternative (in some cases supplement) to soil-applied termiticides. Termite baiting is a relatively new concept and cannot be compared easily to conventional termite treatments in terms of their effectiveness. Baits take advantage of the social nature and foraging behavior of subterranean termites. Foraging worker termites consume the bait and share it with the rest of the colony, resulting in a slow colony decline or eventual elimination.

Our treatment proposal will include specific information about the treatment. Our pest control technician will measure and graph or sketch the structure for proper application rates/volume and pricing if termite evidence is detected or when a proposal is issued.

If there is anything you do not understand regarding one of our termite treatment proposals, stop and ask us to explain the proposal in more detail. We want you to feel comfortable that the plan we offer is the best possible plan for your home and conditions, both inside and out.

Termite Monitoring Stations
Since most baiting systems act over time to reduce and eliminate termite colonies, some homeowners ask for the extra protection of Termite Monitoring Stations after initial treatments.  Ask your SELECT EXTERMINATING pest control technician if Termite Monitoring Stations are a good choice for your home and family.

IPM-Business

SELECT EXTERMINATING's IPM Program (Integrated Pest Management)
for Commercial, Industrial, Schools, and Food Service Sites including Restaurants (as well as any space where people congregate).

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) from SELECT EXTERMINATING is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.  IPM takes advantage of all appropriate pest management options including, but not limited to, the judicious use of pesticides.

How do the SELECT EXTERMINATING IPM programs work?

IPM is not a single pest control method but, rather, a series of pest management evaluations, decisions and controls.  SELECT EXTERMINATING pest control technicians assist customers to apply IPM best practices in the control and elimination of pests.  IPM best practices include a four-tiered approach. The four steps include:

Set Action Thresholds

Before taking any pest control action, SELECT EXTERMINATING works with you to  set an action threshold, a point at which pest populations or environmental conditions indicate that pest control action must be taken. Sighting a single pest does not always mean control is needed. The level at which pests will either become an economic threat or a health threat is critical to guide future pest control decisions.

Monitor and Identify Pests

Not all pests and other living organisms require control. Many organisms are innocuous, and some are even beneficial. SELECT EXTERMINATING’s IPM programs work to monitor for pests and identify them accurately, so that appropriate control decisions can be made in conjunction with action thresholds. This monitoring and identification removes the possibility that pesticides will be used when they are not really needed or that the wrong kind of pesticide will be used, especially where food is processed or served.

Prevention

As a first line of pest control, SELECT EXTERMINATING’s IPM programs work to manage the indoor and attached outdoor space to prevent pests from becoming a threat.  These kinds of control methods can be very effective and cost-efficient and present little to no risk to people or the environment.

Control

Once monitoring, identification, and action thresholds indicate that pest control is required, and preventive methods are no longer effective or available, SELECT EXTERMINATING then evaluates possible IPM compliant control methods both for effectiveness and risk. Effective, less risky pest controls are chosen first, including highly targeted chemicals, such as pheromones to disrupt pest mating, or mechanical control, such as trapping. If further monitoring, identifications and action thresholds indicate that less risky controls are not working, then additional pest control methods would be employed, such as targeted application of pesticides. Broadcast spraying of non-specific pesticides is always a last resort.
